The Guadalest castle is a small village approx 50 miles from Alicante and 15 mins in car from Benidorm in the northern region of Marina Baixa. Known for it's tiny winding streets and numerous museums. Originating in the time of the Muslim occupation, Guadalest was conquisted in the 13th Century and then passed thrught the hands of various Catalan and Aragonese noblemen. The town was declared of historic interest in 1974 and the buildings and tiny streets convey you to forgotten times of past centuries. Enjoy the views of the reservoir and valley from the Castle of San Jose, perched high of a rocky enclave. Visit the Casa Orduña, dating from the 17th century with the original furniture and decoration. In the many shops you can buy souvenirs or local products. Guadalest is also home to many varied museums such as the Minitures Museum, Belen Museum and the Dolls House Museum.
